Cool Parent Tip #2 - Surprise Surprise.

Reward. Positive reinforcement. As human beings, most of us anyway, love to be surprised. When our children do something amazing that we weren't expecting it blows us away! We remember it forever. It works both ways! One Halloween I came home to a houseful of kids ready to hit the streets and Trick or Treat! Once the night was over, the kids were Trick or Treated out and full of candy I pulled out a surprise. I noticed my sons were obsessed with Bay Blades. This is a spinny top kinda toy that they would battle each other with. The first to stop spinning losses. Well I made a pit stop at Toys R Us on my way home from work. I bought them a Bay Blade Stadium which is like a battle ground for Bay Blades. They were so excited! They had fun for days with that thing. That is of course until they destroyed it, as boys do. Growing up my dad would take me and my siblings for a midnight car ride from Philly to Atlantic City to walk the beach at night and drink Shirley Temples at a casino bar then turn around and go back home. He was a night owl who worked the graveyard shift for a lot of his adult life. That was always a great surprise! It doesn't have to be material or expensive as long as it's thoughtful. This will strengthen the bond between you and your TrndSttr and create an awesome memory and leave a lasting impression. Check out this Halloween Vlog! The Bay Blade Surprise is in it! Enjoy.
