Cool Parent Tip #1 - Don't Be A Try-Hard In the gaming community there’s always a gamer who goes above and beyond, most of the time to no avail, They suck all the fun out of the game trying way too hard to win. This is called a "Try-Hard." This is a common mistake parents make when trying to win over their kids. A "Cool Parent" isn't one who out cools their kid but one who amplifies the cool in their kid. Approach being the cool parent like being a sidekick or a wingman. Give them the tools and support they need to take their cool to the next level.

Here's an example, my oldest son JoJo loves music and wants to become a DJ. My wife & I found him an after-school program at Scratch Academy. This earned us some major cool points and when JoJo really learns to rock a party it will earn him some major cool points too.
